Growth in both broadband and mobile subscribers across the Channel Islands and Isle of Man saw Sure’s performance described as “stellar” by its parent company, Batelco, in the Group’s third quarter financial report.
Sure increased its broadband subscriber base by 13% during the nine month period to 30 September 2014 and grew its mobile subscribers by 3% across Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man.
In its response to Sure’s performance, the financial report stated that there were “some stellar performances from the Island portfolio including Sure Channel Islands & Isle of Man and Dhiraagu Maldives.”
As well as increasing the number of customers Sure serves, the report also points to the acquisition of the Foreshore data services business and the signing of contracts with Huawei to develop new 4G, 3G and 2G mobile networks for deployment early in 2015, as key developments in Sure’s island operations.
From an operational perspective, the report noted that Sure International, the company’s enterprise division, had successfully installed a global Wide Area Network (WAN) that reaches across six countries.
“2014 has been an important year for Sure, in which we have invested significantly in the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man,” said Graham Hughes, CEO of Sure Jersey. “Our new mobile networks, including a superfast 4G mobile broadband network, will deliver outstanding mobile communications for our customers with data speeds to rival those of landline broadband. The new networks will enable full mobility for both individuals and businesses, transforming the way we communicate and work.”
